The European Commission is promoting a twinning relationship to discuss common topics with selected US Urban Freight projects. In this context, a US delegation of four researchers came to Europe from 28 to 30 September to visit best practice examples of European Urban Freight projects.

Mauro Dell’Amico, Professor of Operations Research at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia has presented the SUCCESS project to the US colleagues. The opportunity was seized to discuss barriers and enablers for the introduction of CCCs and to compare these issues with other past and ongoing European projects.

The overall assessment of this EU/US Urban Freight Demonstrator Tour is very positive on both sides. Concerning the SUCCESS project, the US delegation expressed strong interest in the concept of a Construction Consolidation Centre and requested that a third bilateral meeting be organised as soon as the project’s results are available. The European projects have been invited to participate in an Urban Freight Roundtable in Washington, D.C. in January 2017 (see external events).
