The SUCCESS project was presented at the 46th Annual Conference of AIRO Society which was held in Trieste from 6th to 9th September 2016. The theme of the 2016 conference was “emerging advances in logistics systems”.

AIRO is the Italian Operations Research society – Optimisation and Decision Science. It was created in 1961 and participates to EURO (Association of European Operational Research Societies) and IFORS (International Federation of Operational Research Societies). AIRO counts on more than 400 individual associates and tens of companies, university departments and other institutions.

Stefano Novellani, research fellow at project partner En&Tech, presented the SUCCESS project at the AIRO conference, showing the SUCCESS pilot sites, the consortium, the project objectives, and the principal way of achieving them with the evaluation of a possible introduction of Construction Consolidation Centers (CCCs). Their introduction requires the study of several mathematical models and the use of optimisation algorithms. In this context, Stefano presented the Stochastic Facility Location problems related to the introduction of CCCs in the construction supply chain, the mathematical models representing those problems, some algorithmic techniques used to solve them, and some preliminary results.
